• Want to enhance their existing accountancy skills and gain Sage certifications to improve their career prospects.
• Are looking to pursue a career in bookkeeping, finance, or accounting roles within a variety of industries.

Bootcamp Outline

Throughout this 12-week programme, you will cover a range of core accountancy skills and concepts, each aligned with industry standards. Here are the learning outcomes you will achieve by the end of each module:

• Understand Key Accountancy Principles: Learn foundational bookkeeping concepts including double entry accounting, maintaining accounting ledgers, reconciling accounts and understanding financial reports.  
• Use Sage Accounting Software Proficiently: Gain hands-on experience with Sage to perform essential accounting tasks such as recording transactions, generating financial reports, and managing client accounts.
• Create and Manage Financial Documents: Develop skills in preparing key accounting documents like profit and loss statements, VAT returns, and balance sheets.
• Work with Period End Tasks & Reconciliations: Understand how to handle period-end accounting processes, including returns, reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements.
• Manage Stock Control & Invoicing: Learn how to handle stock control, process invoices, and manage payments and receipts using Sage.
• Career Development: Build essential career planning skills, such as crafting a strong CV, improving interview techniques, and gaining a deeper understanding of the accounting job market.

Eligibility & Requirements Criteria

Learners must meet all of the below criteria to take part in the Bootcamp.

• You must be 19 or over.
• You must be a resident of Cheshire & Warrington.
• You must be a British Citizen or have been living in England for 3 years for purposes other than study (you will need to provide residency eligibility as soon as enrolment call).
• You must not have completed your chosen course previously as refresher courses will not be funded.
• You must not already be on an apprenticeship or other qualification.
• You must not have already completed a Bootcamp within the last year.
• Must have use of a laptop/computer with a stable internet connection and use of  zoom/teams throughout your Bootcamp with a working microphone and video camera.  Chromebooks, tablets and phones are not suitable to undertaking live online sessions.
• For Bootcamps relating to the study of Microsoft Office and other relevant software, you must have the software installed and in working order throughout the duration of the Bootcamp.
• Because our Skills Bootcamps are of Level 3 standard in England, you will be expected to have some existing knowledge and skills within the subject area or job role that you are applying for.

You must also have:

A familiarity with applied use of Microsoft Office Suite of programmes.

Mininum level 1 functional skills ability in Maths and English.

Pass an entry interview.

Must be looking to actively search for a job immediately after graduating.

You must be able to commit to and attend 100% of live sessions as per the course requirements .

Course Cost:

All Bootcamps are funded and free of charge to the eligible learners.

Elaine Smith has been practising and teaching accountancy for over 15 years. She completed her undergraduate and masters degrees in the United States and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. Her experience in public practice included taxation, auditing and bookkeeping. She is currently lecturing and working towards her PhD in Accountancy at Maynooth University, as well as delivering online accounting modules through Cenit College.
