About Skills Bootcamps

Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible training programmes designed to help adults build the skills employers are looking for.

Our Staffordshire Skills Bootcamps are funded by the Department of Work & Pensions and open to all types of learners, including unemployed and self-employed individuals, and those in full or part time employment looking to upskill. Employers often utilise Skills Bootcamps to train existing staff through the funding support available.

Designed to fit around work and life commitments, each Bootcamp provides practical, job‑focused learning that supports adults in gaining new skills, moving into employment, or advancing their career.

This Skills Bootcamp builds practical, real-world data analytics and business intelligence skills for anyone working with data or supporting data-driven decision-making in a corporate setting. Over 13 weeks, learners will develop capability in data sourcing, preparation and cleansing, data quality and validation, data modelling, data analysis, Power BI, dashboards and visualisations, performance reporting and communicating data insights.

The programme blends structured learning with hands-on practice. Learners will use Microsoft Power BI throughout the programme to work with real-world datasets, explore business questions, identify trends and patterns, create meaningful reports and dashboards, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

To participate, learners need access to a laptop or desktop computer, a stable internet connection and Microsoft Power BI. No prior data analytics or Power BI experience is required, as all tools and techniques are introduced during the programme.

Assessment is based on completing an applied data analytics project, demonstrating the ability to source, prepare, analyse and present data using Microsoft Power BI.

The Bootcamp is designed for adults who want to develop practical data analytics and business intelligence skills for the workplace. It suits career changers, early-career professionals, team leaders, and anyone who works with data or supports data-driven decision-making.

It’s also suitable for self-employed individuals who manage business data, reporting or client work. Learners interested in developing their data skills can explore data analytics roles and core data analytics skills.

Skills Bootcamps are designed to make training accessible to a wide range of learners and employers.

  • Employed, self-employed and unemployed learners: Bootcamps are 100% funded, meaning there is no cost to the learner.
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): Employers receive 90% funding towards the cost of training and contribute the remaining 10%.
  • Large organisations: Employers receive 70% funding and contribute the remaining 30%.

Whether you are looking to develop your own skills or invest in the development of your employees, our Skills Bootcamps provide a flexible and supported route to gaining valuable, industry-relevant skills.

Funding is subject to eligibility criteria and programme availability.
